Each child is welcome to visit our kidz zone featuring toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and a kids toy.  Children are allowed to pick items for their goodie bag either before their dental appointment or after being seen in the operatory.

Once taken to their designated operatory, children can watch TV (ex. Cartoon shows) either at the TV across the chair or while lying down on a ceiling mounted tv.  The Tell-Show-Do technique is used to acclimate our younger patients with the steps of the procedure, ie. Whether they are completing a cleaning, filling, tooth removal or any other procedure.  For patients that may show signs of apprehension or are afraid of the freezing, we offer the following:

• Laughing Gas—Laughing gas can assist in calming down a child and treatment can sometimes be rendered without freezing.
• Silver Diamine Fluoride—a simple and effective way to stop a cavity in the interim through application of a liquid substance; multiple applications may be needed
• Microlight Dental Laser—Assists in providing dental treatment to kids with less to no freezing and further assists with healing from cold sores, tooth extraction and tooth sensitivity.

At the end of the appointment, each child and parent is given a recap of the procedure performed, and sometimes, camera photos are taken to further educate our patients. Educating our patients is our top priority at Dentistry on 88!

When coming in for an exam as a new patient and not having any cavities/sugar bugs, children are given a Cavity-Free Certificate, recognizing their commitment to oral care and enhancing their overall health.
