For some, visiting the dentist is a fun, exciting experience, especially when it’s your first time. While for others, the idea of your first dental visit brings forth the feeling of uneasiness or anxiety. At Dentistryon88, we do everything in our power to make your child’s first dental visit a positive experience. We even have a dedicated Kids Zone with toys for our remarkable and brave little patients! Our team at Dentistry on 88 loves seeing kids of all ages, and it is our goal to ensure that your child’s first visit is a comfortable and fun experience!
As per the CDA, the Canadian Dental Association, it is recommended that your child visit the dentist for their first checkup by 12 months of age or within six months of their first tooth coming in. While that may seem a bit early to some parents, there is sound reasoning behind this recommendation. Bringing your child in early allows for a clinical exam to look for tooth decay signs and look for any potential dental issues. These early appointments are beneficial to your child and you as a parent as they can provide education on keeping your child’s teeth clean preventing cavities.

Many parents wonder how often their child should visit the dentist. While the minimum number of visits required is two per year for children, every child’s mouth and habits are different. It is vital to bring your child in by 12 months of age to have a complete oral exam to determine their oral health and risk.
Our friendly team is trained to help make your child’s visit comfortable. We also offer oral sedation to help children who are highly nervous if necessary.
